Build your own chatbot: a no-code setup guide
Updated
You do not need to be a developer to create a chatbot. A platform handles the conversation interface and AI connection; your job is to supply accurate business information, choose permissions and test the result.
1. Set up your account
Create an account, confirm your email if requested and name your workspace. Choose a plan and activate the trial. Chattagent’s seven-day trial requires a payment card.
2. Define the agent’s goal
Describe whether it should answer support questions, help with bookings, sell products or assist colleagues. Start with a template or your website and review the proposed plan, instructions and tools.
3. Add business knowledge
Import website pages, documents or FAQs. The crawler can use your sitemap; inspect the saved text and wait for sources to finish processing. Add relevant Google Drive documents or Shopify products through your connected apps.
4. Choose the chat design
Pick a layout and adapt colours, logo and welcome text. Add suggested questions based on what customers genuinely ask. Internal assistants do not need a public website chat.
5. Test before publishing
Ask real questions about your policies and products. Test a question the agent cannot answer and check the handover. For connected tools, verify approvals and the resulting action in the destination app.
6. Publish and review
Enable the hosted chat and install the widget on your site, or use the agent API for your own integration. Read conversations in the inbox and answer knowledge requests under Tasks.
Improve over time
Review the first week of conversations and update missing or outdated information. Read AI customer service and compare free and paid options.
